Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday took “a ride” on the popular Vande Bharat train of Indian Railways. While travelling from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram, she expressed happiness and praised the Ministry of Railways.
“Taking a ride on #VandeBharat from Kochi to Thiruvanathapuram. Vande Bharat was introduced by @PMOIndia @narendramodi in September 2022. It is after a year that I have the opportunity to travel in one of them. Being popular, the train runs fully booked. Well done @RailMinIndia,” she tweeted on X.
Presently, 34 Vande Bharat trains are running in the country. The first service commenced on 15 February 2019. The trainset was then known as Train 18. On 27 January 2019, it was named Vande Bharat Express.
