The government is working hard to drive inflation, now cheap pulses and onions will be available at home

The government is taking one step after another to provide relief from increased inflation. Recently, the government has cut the price of LPG cylinder by Rs 200. It is also reported that the government can cut the price of petrol and diesel by Diwali. Meanwhile, the government has decided to provide onions and pulses at home to provide relief from the increased price of food items. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ashwini Kumar Choubey flagged off 75 mobile vans on Wednesday. These vans will provide low-cost pulses and onions in Delhi and its surrounding areas. This dal has been named ‘Bharat Dal’ by the government.

This scheme will be started in other cities of the country

Speaking at an event at the National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India Limited (NCCF) office, Choubey said it is a pilot project to help people get essential food items at affordable rates. Describing the initiative as a “gift of nectar” in the ‘Amrit Kaal’, he said the government would consider taking up similar projects in other cities as well. He said the ministry wants people to have access to kitchen items at affordable rates and more food items, including millets, will be added in future. Under the scheme, the price of pulses is Rs 60 per kg and that of onion is Rs 25 per kg, he said.

Tomatoes were also made available cheaper.

Last month, when tomato prices crossed Rs 200-mark, the government made tomatoes available at cheaper rates through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumer Federation of India (NCCF). However, now the price of tomatoes in the retail market has reached Rs 30 per kg. However, the price of essential goods is expected to increase again in the upcoming festive season. In view of this, the government has already started preparations.
