Five youngsters from the state have qualified for the national round of IndiaSkills competition to be held in New Delhi this October. They are Mikhail Ansari and Sajjad Ansari, the top two in auto body repair trade, Prakash Sharma, car painting champion, Aditya Singh, who bagged the first position in IT network system management, and David John Nag, who won the second position in welding. If selected, they will represent the country in WorldSkills 2019, the biggest vocational education and skill competition event in the world, to be held in the ancient city of Kazan in Russia next year.

After clearing the district and the state-level competitions earlier this year, they competed at the Eastern Chapter of IndiaSkills Regional Competitions in Bhubaneswar in July where 300 candidates from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya participated. “The national-level competition will be held in Delhi in October where the first and the second position holders of each trade from four zonal competitions held in Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Jaipur and Bangalore will participate,” informed Debraj Sengupta, who was involved with Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSMDS) as a consultant.
