West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced a hike in the salaries of mlAs. “There has been no revision in my salary as I have not been taking any salary for a long time,” Banerjee told the State Assembly.

“The salary of MLAs of West Bengal Assembly is much less than other states, so it has been decided that their salary will be increased by Rs 40,000 per month.”

Salaries of cabinet and state ministers also increased

Apart from this, Mamata Banerjee has increased the salary of cabinet ministers and ministers of state. Now the monthly salary of state ministers has been increased from Rs 10,900 to Rs 50,900. In the case of cabinet ministers, this amount has been increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 51,000. Cabinet ministers, ministers of state and MLAs are entitled to get other additional allowances in addition to the monthly salary, They will remain the same.

What will be the total salary??

“This will mean that the actual monthly payment to MLAs, including salaries and allowances, will now go up to Rs 1.21 lakh from the current rate of Rs 81,000 per month,” a state government official said.

    The increase due to this

Announcing the hike in the state assembly on Thursday, the chief minister said the decision to hike the salaries was taken in view of the fact that the salaries of MLAs in West Bengal were much lower than those of mlAs in other states. They are demanding increased dearness allowance and arrears at par with central government employees.
