    Prime Minister To Launch Development Projects Worth ₹2,200 Crore In Varanasi On August 2

    Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on 2nd August 2025 at around 11 AM, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects totaling approximately ₹2,200 crore. On this occasion, he will also address the public gathering.

    Holistic Urban Development Across Sectors

    The projects span across infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural preservation, aiming for comprehensive transformation of Varanasi through enhanced connectivity, improved public amenities, and cultural rejuvenation.

    Infrastructure Development

    To bolster road connectivity, the Prime Minister will:

    • Inaugurate:

      • Widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi Road and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road

      • Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, easing congestion on Mohan Sarai–Adalpura Road

    • Lay foundation stones for:

      • Road widening and strengthening across rural and urban stretches including Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, Babatpur

      • Railway Overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard

    Power Infrastructure

    • Foundation stone will be laid for works under the Smart Distribution Project and undergrounding of electrical infrastructure, worth over ₹880 crore.

    Tourism and Heritage Enhancement

    Prime Minister will inaugurate:

    • Redeveloped 8 riverfront Kuccha Ghats

    • Development of Kalika Dham

    • Beautification projects at Rangildas Kutiya Ghat, Durgakund Restoration, and other historic water bodies

    He will lay foundation stones for:

    • Restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple

    • Redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral house in Lamahi

    • Development of Karkhiyaon, birthplace of many freedom fighters

    • Creation of City Facility Centres in Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar

    • Urban greening projects such as Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur and beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 parks

    Water Conservation & Rural Drinking Water

    • Foundation stone will be laid for purification and maintenance of key kunds like Ramkund, Mandakini, Shankuldhara, and more

    • Four floating pujan platforms to be installed

    • 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission will be inaugurated

    Education Initiatives

    • Inauguration of upgraded 53 municipal school buildings

    • Foundation stones for:

      • New district library

      • Rejuvenation of Government High Schools at Jakhini, Lalpur, and others

    Healthcare Advancements

    • Inauguration of advanced medical equipment, including robotic surgery and CT scan facilities, at:

      • Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre

      • Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital

    • Foundation stone of a Homoeopathic College and Hospital

    • Inauguration of an Animal Birth Control and Dog Care Centre

    Sports and Law Enforcement Infrastructure

    • Inauguration of synthetic hockey turf at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium

    • Inauguration of Multipurpose Hall (300-capacity) at PAC Ramnagar

    • Foundation stone for Quick Response Team (QRT) Barracks

    Farmer Welfare

    • 20th instalment of PM-KISAN to be released

      • Over ₹20,500 crore to be transferred directly to bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers

      • Total disbursement under PM-KISAN to exceed ₹3.90 lakh crore

    Community and Youth Engagement

    • Launch of Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita registration portal for events including:

      • Sketching, painting, photography competitions

      • Khel-Kood and Gyan Pratiyogitas

      • Rojgar Mela

    • Distribution of over 7,400 assistive aids to Divyangjan and elderly beneficiaries

    These initiatives reflect the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive development and cultural pride, aimed at transforming Varanasi into a modern yet heritage-rich urban centre.
