Ram Charan’s latest film Peddi has made a spectacular start at the box office, earning more than ₹135 crore gross worldwide on its opening day. Released on June 4, the sports drama has emerged as one of the biggest opening-day performers of the year, reflecting the immense anticipation surrounding the film and the popularity of its lead star.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is a rural sports drama set in 1980s Andhra Pradesh. The story follows a determined villager who uses sports as a tool to unite his community and protect its pride against a powerful rival. The film combines themes of resilience, identity, and community spirit against a vibrant rural backdrop.
The project marks a reunion between Ram Charan and Buchi Babu Sana, who previously collaborated on the blockbuster Rangasthalam, where Sana contributed as a writer and assistant director. The film’s music has been composed by A. R. Rahman, adding further star power to the production.
Peddi also features Janhvi Kapoor in a leading role, marking her second Telugu-language project after Devara. The supporting cast includes Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu Sharma, and Boman Irani.
Produced by Vriddhi Cinemas and co-produced under IVY Entertainment, the film is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The cinematography is handled by R. Ratnavelu, while Navin Nooli serves as editor.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Peddi collected approximately ₹71.44 crore nett in India on its opening day. With strong audience response and positive word-of-mouth, the film is expected to continue its impressive run at the box office in the coming days.
