(FE) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue new Rs 10 currency notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005. The central bank stated that all the banknotes in the above-mentioned denomination issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender. According to an official release issued by the central bank, the new notes will be issued with inset letter ‘L’ in both the number panels. Also, they will bear the signature of RBI Governor Urjit R Patel and year of printing ‘2017’ printed on the reverse of it.

(MC) State-run power giant NTPC today said it has paid an interim dividend of Rs 2,152.07 crore to its shareholders for the current fiscal. “NTPC Ltd has paid an interim dividend of Rs 2,152.07 crore, being 26.10 percent of the paid-up equity share capital of the company for Financial Year 2016-17,” NTPC said in statement. According to the statement, the RTGS advice for the transfer of Rs 1,500.95 crore to Government of India, was presented by NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh to Power Minister Piyush Goyal in the presence of Power Secretary Pradeep Kumar Pujari and other senior officials.

Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan today met a delegation of villagers from Neduvasal in Tamilnadu protesting the recent award of oil and gas projects in the area. Ministry of Power has issued/entitled to purchase Energy Savings Certificates (ESCerts) to Designated Consumers (DCs) of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Cycle I on 16th February 2017 on verification of their performance with regard to energy savings, based on the recommendations of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The first cycle of PAT has been completed in March 2015. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved closure/winding up of CREDA HPCL Biofuel Ltd (CHBL) and IndianOil – Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) Biofuels Limited (ICBL). All Office assets of CHBL/ICBL have been disposed of. No manpower exits on the rolls of CHBL/ICBL. There is no financial outgo from Government of India and lands have been returned to CREDA.
