The Government has taken several measures to improve the efficiency of coal based thermal powerplants & improve the air quality in the vicinity of these plants. These are as follows:- i) Supercritical technology has already been adopted for thermal power generation. The design efficiency of Supercritical units is about 5% higher than typical 500 MW subcritical units and these (supercritical) units are likely to have correspondingly lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in ambient air. The tunnel on NH-44 which connects Jammu with Srinagar, will reduce travel time between the two cities by upto two hours. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) – the Union Government’s flagship irrigation programme. The meeting was attended by senior officials from various concerned Ministries, besides PMO and NITI Aayog. Officials stated that out of 99 priority irrigation projects, 21 projects, with a total irrigation potential of 5.22 lakh hectares are likely to be completed by June 2017. (AU) सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ट्रिपल तलाक का मुद्दा संवैधानिक पीठ के पास भेज दिया है। अब इस मामले की सुनवाई सुप्रीम कोर्ट की संवैधानिक पीठ करेगी। गौरतलब है कि ट्रिपल तलाक की संवैधानिक वैधता को लेकर दायर कई याचिकाओं पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट सुनवाई कर रहा था। पिछली सुनवाई में शीर्ष न्यायालय ने सभी पक्षों से जवाब तलब करते हुए मुद्दे निर्धारित करने को कहा था।अटॉर्नी जनरल ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट से तीन तलाक मुद्दे की सुनवाई मई से पहले करने का निवेदन किया, जिसे कोर्ट ने खारिज कर दी। अब इस मामले की सुनवाई 11 मई से होगी।

(FE) RIL on Wednesday announced completion of the sale process of its entire 76 per cent equity stake in Mauritius-based oil retailer Gulf Africa Petroleum Corp (GAPCO) to Total Marketing & Services, a subsidiary of French oil and gas firm Total SA. The Mukesh Ambani-led RIL subsidiary Reliance Exploration & Production DMCC (REPDMCC), TOTAL and GAPCO have obtained requisite regulatory approvals, consents and successfully completed the sale transaction, an RIL release said here.
