(HT) India’s manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest pace in 10 months in April, driven by strong demand and a sharp rise in output, a private survey released on Friday said. The HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), compiled by S&P Global, rose to 58.2 in April from 58.1 in March and 56.3 in February. (HT) India is exploring ways to increase fertiliser imports from the US in a bid to reduce its dependence on countries like China and narrow the trade imbalance between New Delhi and Washington, an official said. The country’s fertiliser imports dipped by 7.16% to $8.29 billion in 2024-25 as against $8.92 billion in 2023-24 and $15.32 billion in 2022-23. The top five import sources of India are Russia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, China, Morocco, and the US, the official said.
