After inaugurating the Rs 2,056 crore strategic bridge at Sadia in Assam’s Tinsukia district, Modi walked a short distance over it. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) surpassed analysts estimates by reporting a whopping 31% rise in its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2017 result. HPCL posted net profit of Rs 1,818.79 crore, a rise of 31.04% from Rs 1,387.91 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Q4FY17 net profit also increased by 9.77% from Rs 1,656.81 crore in the preceding quarter. A poll expected net profit of HPCL at Rs 1,170 crore this Q4. (ET) ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of state-run Oil and Natural GasCorp, has swung to profit in 2016-17 on a 44% rise in output. It reported a consolidated profit of Rs 701 crore in 2016-17, against a loss of Rs 3,633 crore in the previous fiscal year. Income from operations rose just about 2% to Rs 10,080 crore. “Consolidated production of Crude Oil and Oil Equivalent Gas during FY’17 was higher by 44% as compared to previous year. (NDTV) Scaling up the operation against black money and corruption, benami, or proxy-owned property worth Rs. 600 crores has been seized by the Income Tax department over the last six months under a refurbished law that lets the government takeover properties bought in fake names. In all, the tax authorities have detected over 400 benami transactions in 240 cases.
