The unified tax system, said the President, is “the culmination of a 14-year journey.” Speaking before him, PM Modi described GST as Good and Simple Tax, stating that it is not the achievement of any one party or government, but a shared legacy. (PTI) The government will clear all FDI proposals requiring approval within a maximum of 10 weeks after the receipt of an application as per the standard operating procedure which replaces FIPB. The move is aimed at improving investment climate of the country. The new mechanism will replace the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), abolished by the government.
