(PTI) The railways ministry is looking at ways to speed up the electrification process as it would help cut down Rs 16,000 crore expense on diesel, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said today. He said the ministry is consulting all the people who are involved in the electrification process. (PTI) Central government employees will not get a daily allowance on Leave Travel Concession (LTC), according to an official order. The LTC allows the grant of leave and ticket reimbursement to employees who are entitled under the rules to travel to their home towns and other places. Employees were earlier entitled to an allowance which varied with their ranks.  Any incidental expenses and the expenditure incurred on local journeys shall not be admissible under LTC, said the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) yesterday. (ET) State-run hydrocarbon explorer ONGC has found reserves to the west of its Mumbai High offshore fields, with initial estimates suggesting the new discovery’s size to be about 20 million tonnes of oil equivalent (mtoe). The firm’s output has been stagnating over the last many years with annual oil production in the range of 25-26 million tonnes (mt) and natural gas output around 23 billion cubic metres (bcm). (PTI) Government stake in state-owned power giant NTPC has come down to 62.99 per cent, from 63.11 per cent, after the company issued shares to its employees.  “With the allotment and transfer of 94,69,848 shares to employees, the Government of India’s holding in NTPC has come down from 520,36,08,726 equity shares i.e. 63.11% of total paid-up capital to 519,41,38,878 equity shares i.e. 62.99% of total paid-up capital,” the NTPC said in BSE filing today. (ET) Oil and Natural Gas Corp plans to relinquish its coal bed methane (CBM) block in Raniganj, West Bengal, but is on course to produce gas from another CBM block in Bokaro in February, a senior executive said. It would be difficult to develop the Raniganj North block since an air strip is coming up on the same land, Ved Prakash Mahawar, director (onshore) of ONGC said.
