Indian Railways have taken various initiatives in improving cleanliness of stations, trains, yards and all other premises. Some of the major initiatives taken towards improvement of cleanliness are:- (i) Mechanized cleaning methods have been adopted in major stations. (ii) Regular intensive cleanliness drives are undertaken at various railway stations by Zonal Railways. Government of India, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, had floated Series III of Sovereign Gold Bonds 2017-18, for a period from October 09, 2017 to December 27, 2017 (with subscription period Monday to Wednesday every week). The Bonds will be issued on the succeeding Monday after each subscription period. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the continuation of the existing Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme with funding pattern of 90:10 till March, 2020 with an outlay of Rs.5300.00 crore. It would enable completion of ongoing projects. The Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar today reviewed the progress of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, PMGSY here and directed the senior state officials to speed up the execution of rural roads to achieve full rural connectivity by March, 2019. 1,78,184 eligible habitations with 500 populations in plain areas and 250 in hilly areas had to be connected by all weather roads.
