(PTI) After Dena Bank, the Reserve Bank now is likely to impose certain restrictions on couple of more public sector lenders under the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) mechanism due to worsening asset quality, a source said. In view of mounting non-performing assets (NPAs), the RBI yesterday directed Dena Bank not to issue any fresh loans and hire new personnel. Already, there are 11 banks, out of 21 state-owned banks, under the PCA of the Reserve Bank because of their weak financials. (PTI) Flight operations to and from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here were majorly affected today as a dust storm hit the city in the evening, with airport sources confirming over 40 diversions and more than two dozen delays. The operations of almost all the airlines — domestic and international — were affected as the runway had to be closed down and the flight services suspended for a while, the sources said. The airlines informed the passengers about the delays and diversions on Twitter. Dozens of flights were diverted to cities such as Jaipur, Amritsar and Lucknow, the sources said.

OVL, the overseas arm of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), has filed an arbitration claim in a London court to recover about USD 300 million for oil Sudan bought from its Greater Nile Oil Project and another USD 98.94 million in unpaid pipeline rent lease, people familiar with the matter said. OVL had in 2003 acquired 25 per cent interest in the Greater Nile Oil Project in Sudan.…

(LiveMint) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declined to share inspection reports for scam-hit Punjab National Bank (PNB), citing RTI clauses that bar disclosure of details which may impede the investigation process or prosecution of offenders among other reasons. Replying to an RTI query, the central bank also said it does not have “specific information” on what resulted in detection of over Rs13,000 crore scam at PNB and directed the application to the state-run bank for providing those details.
