(Tribune) The portals of Badrinath Temple will be closed for devotees on November 20. The Himalayan shrine is shut annually for the winter season during which it remains covered in snow. The gates of the shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu will be closed at 3.21 pm on November 20, Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee CEO B D Singh said. The auspicious hour to close the temple was decided ceremoniously after prayers by Dharmadhikari Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal and Vedpathis in the presence of chief priest Ishwari Prasad Nambudiri on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi, he said.

(FE) To make the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) more attractive, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has sought the government’s nod to double the guaranteed minimum pension under the scheme to Rs 10,000/ month and increase the upper age limit for entering APY to 50 from 40 now. Officials reckon that such a move would attract more unorganised sector workers into the retirement plan. The APY has enrolled 1.18 subscribers till now since it’s roll-out in FY16. (PTI) Power trading solutions provider PTC India will sign medium-term power purchase agreements (PPA) for 1,900 MW coal-based power capacities with seven companies and five states by month-end under a pilot scheme, an official said. Strategic crude oil reserves, which are typically state-funded and meant to tackle emergency situations, allow a country to tide over short-term supply disruptions.
