(LiveMint) The Supreme Court on Friday cleared the sale of spectrum by Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Communications Ltd to elder brother Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJio) on the condition that the seller furnishes ₹1,400 crore as corporate guarantee to the government within two days. This corporate guarantee, to be furnished by Reliance Realty, a unit of Reliance Communication Ltd (RCom), is in addition to the land parcel that has to be given as security, as directed by the Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) in an October order. (LiveMint) The UIDAI on Friday asked banks not to discontinue the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) as it may create obstruction in the delivery of welfare benefits. The clarification came after the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) took note of a letter from the State Bank of India (SBI) to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). In the letter, dated November 19, 2018, SBI informed NPCI of its intention to discontinue Aadhaar enabled payment system purportedly based on the understanding that its continuation may be in violation of the recent Supreme Court judgement. The mark the occasion a mega event would be organised in Dharamshala in Kangra district, he said after a meeting in Shimla to review the arrangements for the programme. (PTI) Domestic cooking gas (LPG) price Friday was cut by ₹6.52 per cylinder on account of tax impact on the reduced market rate for the fuel. A 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder will cost ₹500.90 in the national capital from midnight tonight as against ₹507.42 currently, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country’s largest fuel retailer, said in a statement. The price reduction comes soon after six consecutive monthly hikes in rates since June. Prior to this price cut, rates had gone up by ₹14.13 per cylinder since then. (MC) India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 7.1 percent in July-September, down from 8.2 percent in the previous quarter as high fuel prices, a sliding rupee and relatively weaker rural demand seem to have applied the brakes on the economy. Despite slight deceleration in the second quarter of 2018-19, GDP grew considerably faster than the previous year’s 6.3 percent growth in the same quarter.
