(PTI) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp’s (ONGC) Rs 4,022 crore share buyback programme will open on January 29 and close on February 11, the company said in its offer letter to shareholders. ONGC’s board had on December 20 approved buyback of 25.29 crore shares for Rs 159 apiece as part of the government plan to get cash-rich PSUs to part with their surplus. The government, which holds 65.64 percent stake in the company, stands to gain about Rs 2,640 crore from tendering some of its shares in the buyback programme.

(PTI) India will surpass China to become the second largest oil demand growth centre globally in 2019 on back of buoyant auto fuel and LPG consumption, research and consultancy group Wood Mackenzie said Tuesday. In a report, Wood Mackenzie said India’s oil demand growth recovered strongly in 2018, overcoming the aftermath of the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation, and contributed 14 per cent of the global demand growth or 2,45,000 barrels per day. “We forecast oil demand to grow at the same level in 2019. (PTI) The government will be auctioning about 1,900 gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the funds raised will be used for the project to clean river Ganga, according to a statement. The items that would be auctioned include paintings, sculptures, shawls, pagris, jackets and traditional musical instruments from across the country. “The physical auction will be conducted on January 27 and 28, 2019 at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi from 12.00 pm onwards. The e-auction will take place subsequently from January 29-30, 2019 for remaining items left after physical auction,” the statement said.
