(ET) NHPC will bid for 120-MW Jal Power stressed plant in Sikkim when the project is bid out under the bankruptcy court this month. Lenders had referred the project to NCLT and the bankruptcy court is likely to call bids for the project soon, said NHPC chairman and managing director Balraj Joshi. NHPC recently obtained the approval of Union Cabinet for investment of Rs 5748 crore in 500-mw Lanco Teesta Hydro Power that the state-run company acquired for Rs 907 crore by bidding in bidding in NCLT. The project is likely to be commissioned in 3.5 years, Joshi said.

Most winners of the latest wind auction by the Solar Energy Corporation of India, nodal agency that offers renewable energy projects, have decided to set up projects outside Gujarat because of land issues that have arisen lately, according to several people aware of the matter. Gujarat was favored for wind projects because it has many sites, especially in the Kutch area, where wind speeds are very high. However, over several months, the state has gone slow on leasing land to projects auctioned by central agencies.
