(ET) Adani Enterprises received the go-ahead to start construction of a controversial coal mine in outback Australia, after a state government approved a final permit on ground water management. Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science (DES) said in a statement it had approved Adani’s Groundwater Dependent Ecosystem Management Plan. Adani has said that is ready to start construction “within days” of receiving the permit for its Carmichael mine that would produce 8-10 million tonnes of thermal coal a year, and cost up to $1.5 billion.

(PTI) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has put its installations in the western offshore on high alert and restricted helicopter sorties as a cyclone gathers intensity over the Arabian Sea. ONGC produces bulk of India’s oil and gas from fields off the west coast, with several of its installations on these housing its operational personnel. Sources said the company has not evacuated any of its personnel from the living quarters on the western offshore fields like Mumbai High and Bassein but has stopped helicopter sorties to wellheads. This is Maruti Suzuki’s second JIM and will be based in Uncha Majra, Gurugram, Haryana. It is going to train 500 youths annually with the operations expected to commence from the Q2 of the financial year 2019-20. (ET) India and France have signed an agreement under which the French Railways will help develop Indian railway stations. The Indian Railway Station Development Corp (IRSDC) entered into a tripartite agreement with French Railways on Monday, it was announced on Tuesday. Under this pact, French development agency AFD will provide in-kind grant of up to 7,00,000 euros through French National Railways-Hubs and Connexions as a technical partner to IRSDC to support the railway station development programme in India, a press statement said. “This will impose no financial liability on IRSDC or Indian Railways,” it said.
