The state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), on their part, will add at least 500 doorstep fuel delivery vehicles within the current financial year. The OMCs — Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL — will soon be issuing advertisements to select interested start-ups and entrepreneurs to enter the field, said a source. (BS) State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC’s) plan to bring its entire refining and marketing business under one umbrella may get delayed further over its differences with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL). While ONGC wants the merger of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) with ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals (OMPL) first, sources said HPCL wants all the three to happen simultaneously. “Based on regulatory rules, two back-to-back restructuring cannot happen. (TH) The Centre has accrued close to Rs 19,000 crore of subsidy savings because of lower kerosene consumption thanks to more cooking gas and electricity connections since financial year 2015-16. “During the current fiscal we expect domestic kerosene consumption to fall to 3.3 million tonnes (mt) as compared to 6.8 mt in 2015-16. The steep fall in consumption has helped save the exchequer close to ₹19,000 crore,” an official told.
