(ET) India will take its first baby step towards deregulation of the natural gas market on Monday when oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan launches the country’s first gas exchange, a move that will ultimately lead to market-driven pricing and boost consumption by improving availability. IEX, the market leader in power trading, is offering the platform with Dahej and Hazira in Gujarat and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh as delivery locations – or ‘hubs’ – for pricing the contracts. (ET) Petrol price on Friday was hiked by 57 paise per litre and diesel by 59 paise a litre as oil companies adjusted retail rates – the sixth straight day of increase in rates since oil firms ended an 82-day hiatus of rate revision. (FE) India has reported the highest single-day spike of 10,956 new COVID-19 cases and 396 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the first time that daily coronavirus cases in the country crossed 10,000-mark. The states continued to register nearly 10,000 cases even on Tuesday. Maharashtra reported the highest number of fresh infections at 2,259 in last 24 hours.
