(PTI) The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 16 crore, with India reaching the mark in 109 days, the Union Health Ministry said. In comparison, the US took 111 days while China took 116 days to achieve a similar mark, it said. The ministry said 6,71,285 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years have received their first dose of COVID vaccine across 12 states and UTs. (PTI) India began experimenting with doping diesel with a small portion of biodiesel extracted from leftover cooking oil in kitchens to cut reliance on imports as well as reducing carbon emissions. Diesel, India’s most used fuel, is made from crude oil, for which the nation is 85 per cent dependent on imports. Imports can be reduced if a portion of diesel extracted from fossil oil is supplemented by an equally combustible diesel. Additional Chief Secretary and RSGL Chairman of RSGL Subodh Agarwal said that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is soon going to open bidding process for domestic gas distribution through pipelines to many cities of the country, including Rajasthan. (ET) The ongoing NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) projects in the Tapovan area of Uttarakhand have been halted due to a rise in the water level of the Rishiganga river after a cloud burst in the Chamoli district. According to District Magistrate Swati Bhadoria, villagers residing nearby have been cautioned to stay out of the water. “At around 8 pm today, the water level had risen in Tapovan area’s Rishiganga river due to which officials halted operations of ongoing NTPC project and villagers residing nearby were cautioned to stay out of the water,” Bhadoria said.

(ET) India’s oil minister said African nations could play a central role as the world’s third biggest oil importer seeks to diversify its sources of oil and gas imports. “As India seeks to further diversify sourcing of crude oil and LNG, Africa has a central role – largely due to its proximity and absence of any choke points in trans-shipments,” Dharmendra Pradhan told an industry summit.
