(ET) The RBI on Monday said it has imposed penalties on eight cooperative banks, including a fine of Rs 40 lakh on the Mehsana Urban Co-operative Bank, Gujarat, for non-compliance with various norms. Penalty has been imposed on Mehsana Urban Co-operative Bank for non-compliance with certain provisions of the Reserve Bank of India (Co-operative Banks – Interest Rate on Deposits) Directions, 2016. (ET) The price of gas that is supplied to CNG vehicles and households has jumped 18% to $10.5 per mmBtu in monthly revision from Monday. This is three-and-half times that of the rate city gas companies paid for domestic supplies at March-end and nearly six times that of last August. (ET) The cost of commercial liquid petroleum gas cylinders weighing 19 kilograms will be cheaper from Monday as their prices have been slashed by Rs 36 per unit. In the national capital Delhi, per unit of the commercial cylinder will now cost Rs 1,976.5. On July 6 too, rates for the 19-kilogram commercial cylinder were cut by Rs 8.5 per unit. In metros such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, a cylinder then cost Rs 2,012.50, Rs 2,132.00 Rs 1,972.50, and Rs 2,177.50, respectively, data showed.
(ET) India’s largest gas distributor GAIL (India) Ltd has started gas rationing, cutting supplies to fertiliser and industrial clients after imports were hit under its deal with a former unit of Russian energy giant Gazprom, two sources familiar with the matter said. Lower gas supplies will affect impact India’s urea production, and a sustained cut would lift imports of the soil nutrient, a fertiliser industry source aware of the cuts said.
