(ET) The hydrocarbon-onshore division of L&T’s energy business has secured a large contract from Indian Oil Corporation . L&T defines large contracts between the range of Rs 2500 crore and Rs 5000 crore. IOCL is implementing the Panipat refinery expansion (P-25) project to enhance refining capacity from 15 MMTPA to 25 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum) to meet the growth in demand of petroleum products and to increase their profitability and competitiveness in the long run. The engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract is for setting up a Residue Hydrocracker Unit (RHCU) for this P-25 Project.

(ET) State-owned power giant NTPC  said it has started capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the flue gas stream at its thermal plant in Vindhyachal. “As part of its commitment towards Net Zero by 2070, NTPC Ltd India’s largest integrated power company has captured its first CO2 on 15th August 2022 from flue gas stream of 500 MW coal based power plant (Unit-13) at Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station (VSTPS),” a company statement said. (ET) India on Saturday recorded 13,272 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 4,43,27,890, while the number of active cases decreased to 1,01,166, the Union health ministry data revealed. The death toll from COVID-19 rose to 5,27,289 with 36 fatalities, including six deaths that Kerala reconciled, the data updated at 8 am showed. The active cases comprise 0.23 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.58 per cent, the ministry said.

(FE) Adani Power, the country’s largest thermal power generator, will fully acquire DB Power for an enterprise value of ₹7,017 crore. DB Power, a Bhaskar Group-promoted company, owns and operates two thermal power plants with a capacity of 600 MW each in Chhattisgarh. With this deal, Adani Power’s installed thermal power capacity would go up to 14,810 MW, from 13,610 MW at present. A further 1,600 MW capacity is under-construction.
