The move, if implemented, could benefit lakhs of pensioners, but it would also cost the government a sizable additional expense. (ET) The government has allowed solar power developers more time for executing projects, a move which may bring down project costs and tariffs of power generated from this source. As per recent amendments in the competitive bidding guidelines for solar projects, for capacities above 250 MW, developers now have two years to commission the project from the date of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA) with the procurer. Petrol was retailing at Rs 76.16 in Delhi while diesel is selling at Rs 67.68. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 83.92 and diesel at Rs 71.99. The rates are revised every day and are effective from 6 am. The OPEC and other major oil producing nations are meeting on June 22 to decide whether to boost oil production to bring down the prices of crude oil.

(ET) Above-normal rains in June have helped hydropower stations to step up production, easing concerns caused earlier by scanty showers in April and May, and a low-snowfall winter. In the first two-had-a-half months of the current financial year that began in April, hydropower generation was 7.5% less than the target — 25,771 million units against the aim of 27,864 million units — due to low levels of water in the dams and rivers. (Hindustan) बैंकों एवं डाकघरों परिसरों में आधार केंद्र की शुरुआत के एक साल से भी कम समय में 18 हजार शाखाओं में ऐसे केंद्र खुल चुके हैं। भारत विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी अजय भूषण पांडेय ने यहां यह जानकारी दी। पांडेय ने बताया कि बैंकों एवं डाकघरों में आधार केंद्र बनाये जा रहे हैं। अभी तक बैंकों एवं डाकघरों की करीब 18 हजार शाखाओं में ये केंद्र बनाये जा चुके हैं और शेष शाखाओं में भी केंद्र बनाये जा रहे हैं। देश में बैंकों एवं डाकघरों की कुल 26,000 शाखाओं में आधार केंद्र बनाये जाने हैं। पांडेय…
