Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has organized the 2nd edition of the three-day ONGC Para Games 2018-19 at the Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi. The 1st edition of the event was organized by ONGC in 2017. ONGC is the only public sector enterprise to organize such para Games, to promote the sporting talent of Persons with Disabilities (PwD). ONGC has associated with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) to organize the ONGC Para Games in a professional manner. (ET) Grappling a shortfall in tax revenues, the government has pressed cash-rich PSUs like Indian Oil Corp (IOC) and Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) to pay a second interim dividend for the current fiscal after seeking regulatory nods. While IOC has called a board meeting on March 19 to consider paying a second interim dividend, ONGC has declined saying it does not have surplus cash to make such payments within a month of an interim dividend payout, sources with direct knowledge of the development development said. (ET) Coal imports by state government-run power producers were up 2.6-fold in the first 10 months of the current fiscal as domestic supply dwindled, but overseas purchases by private generators and central entities declined 2.5% during the period. Overall imports by thermal plants rose 4.6% to 47.96 million tonnes (MT) in this period. A senior executive at a state-owned power generator said increased demand for thermal power forced some of them to step up imports as domestic coal was scarce last summer. (PTI) The government has deferred by one month the last date for bidding for the 14 oil and gas exploration blocks offered in the second round of Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP). Bids for the 14 blocks offered in OALP-II bid round, covering an area of 29,333 square kilometres, were to close. “Bid submission closing date for OALP Bid Round-II stands extended up to April 10, 2019,” the Directorate General of Hydrocarbon (DGH) said in a brief notice. It did not give reasons for extending the deadline
