(ET) In a big relief to the people in this festive season, petrol and diesel price continued to decline for the fifth consecutive day on Monday. Petrol prices were cut by 13 paisa per litre, while diesel prices were down by 12 paisa per litre in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. According to the Indian Oil website, the petrol rates in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai were: Rs 73.76/litre, Rs 76.40/litre, Rs 79.40/litre and Rs 76.61/litre, respectively. (NDTV) Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) saw huge demand for its shares in the initial public offering (IPO) which closed on Thursday. IRCTC’s IPO to raise Rs. 645 crore was subscribed close to 112 times by the end of the bidding process on Thursday, data compiled by the National Stock Exchange showed. Investors bid for over 225 crore shares of the company, compared with 2.02 crore shares on the offer, according to data from the National Stock Exchange, as of 6:00 pm on Thursday. (DNA) The central government’s recent decision to lower the corporate tax rate is a positive development for the power sector, as it would allow the electricity generators with cost-plus power purchase agreements (PPAs) to pass on the lower tax benefit to the distribution utilities (discoms).
