(T.E.T) Vedanta group firm Cairn Oil & Gas on Monday announced an oil discovery in a Barmer district block of Rajasthan, not very far away from its prolific oilfield in the same desert. In a stock exchange filing, the firm said it has notified the government and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) of the discovery in exploratory well WM-Basal DD Fan-1 drilled in OALP Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1. (B.S) India on Monday reported a net decrease of 22,056 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 202,131. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 0.29 per cent (one in 345). The country is thirty fifth among the most affected countries by active cases. On Sunday, it added 16,051 cases to take its total caseload to 42,838,524 from 42,822,473 — an increase of 0.04%. And, with 206 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 512,109, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections. (B.S) India’s largest oil firm IOC will set up ‘green hydrogen’ plants at its Mathura and Panipat refineries by 2024 to replace carbon-emitting units as it sees the just announced green hydrogen policy as a watershed moment in the country’s energy transition that will help cut costs. (F.P) India’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 4,28,02,505 on Saturday as 22,270 more people tested positive for the viral disease, while the active cases came down to 2,53,739, according to Union health ministry data. The death toll reached 5,11,230 with 325 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. Daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 13 consecutive days now. The active cases comprise 0.59 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.21 per cent, the ministry said. One terrorist was killed in an encounter at Chermarg, Zainapora area of Shopian. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation. (F.E) India and the UAE on Friday signed a free trade agreement (FTA) to give a fillip to bilateral trade and economic ties. The agreement, dubbed as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), was signed and exchanged by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
