Madhya Pradesh farmers protest: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday ended his ‘peace fast’ after requests from farmers and family members of deceased in the Mandsaur violence. Earlier on Saturday, the family members of the four farmers who were killed in Mandsaur violence had met Chouhan and requested him to end his fast. However, the CM remain unmoved and said that he will only end his fast after situation gets backs to normal in the state.
“Ye upwaas Madhya Pradesh me shanti bahaali ke liye kar raha hoon.Jab tak puri tarah se shanti bahaal nahi hogi, tab tak upwaas chalega, (I am having this fast for Madhya Pradesh’ peace, till the time situation doesn’t come under control, I will continue my fast)” Chouhan said. Earlier on Saturday, Chouhan had met agitating farmers at the Dussehra Maidan in Bhopal. Chouhan, who sat on ‘indefinite fast’ on Saturday, said that farmers’ work will not go in vain. “I know of the bumper crop production that has sent the prices crashing down in the state. I know your (farmers) problems,” he said.
