Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the day-to-day administration of the Ram Mandir following the recent donation embezzlement controversy. The Trust said the move aims to strengthen transparency, improve governance, and restore the confidence of devotees.
During a meeting held in Ayodhya, the Trust acknowledged that the alleged theft of donations had affected its public image. A three-member search committee has been formed to identify suitable candidates for the CEO’s post. The panel comprises retired Justice Pradeep Kohli, Lt General (Retd.) Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and former Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust chairman Suresh Haware.
The Trust also accepted the resignations of general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra. Trustee Krishna Mohan has been appointed interim general secretary to ensure smooth functioning until permanent arrangements are made.
Addressing the media, Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri described the alleged theft as a matter of “deep pain and embarrassment.” He said the CEO would help establish a stronger and more transparent administrative system while implementing the recommendations of the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The Trust reiterated that anyone found guilty in the donation embezzlement case would face strict legal action. According to the Trust, the Uttar Pradesh government ordered an SIT probe soon after preliminary irregularities surfaced. The initial investigation reportedly identified eight individuals against whom police cases have been registered.
To reassure devotees, the Trust announced that people who donated valuable articles to the temple can verify their offerings by scheduling an appointment.
Speaking after the meeting, Alok Kumar said the trustees were committed to ensuring complete transparency and accountability. He also appealed to anyone possessing evidence related to the alleged embezzlement to cooperate with investigators, while noting that despite the controversy, the number of devotees visiting the temple has remained steady.
