England Reach T20 World Cup Semi-Finals

England secured their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup with a convincing 38-run victory over West Indies at Lord’s, continuing their impressive run of form in the tournament.

Batting first in hot conditions, England posted a strong total of 186-7, the highest score recorded in a women’s T20 international at Lord’s. Danni Wyatt-Hodge led the charge with a fluent 65 off 42 balls, while Heather Knight contributed 43 from 26 deliveries. Their efforts ensured England maintained momentum despite opener Amy Jones falling cheaply for the second consecutive match.

England adapted well to a slow pitch, relying on sweeps, reverse sweeps, and smart running between the wickets. Wyatt-Hodge and Alice Capsey added a valuable 66-run partnership, while late boundaries from Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone helped push the total beyond 180.

In response, West Indies never seriously threatened the target. Their chase suffered an early setback when captain Hayley Matthews was controversially given out caught behind following a review decision. England further tightened their grip when Deandra Dottin, one of West Indies’ most dangerous batters, was dismissed after a fine catch from Alice Capsey.

Although England dropped several catches in the latter stages of the innings, most were difficult opportunities and had little impact on the outcome. Jahzara Claxton and Jannillea Glasgow benefited from missed chances, while Shemaine Campbelle and Chinelle Henry offered some resistance. Henry remained unbeaten on 51, but West Indies finished well short on 148-5.

The victory guarantees England a place in the last four with one group match remaining against New Zealand. Having already posted scores of 219 and 200 earlier in the tournament, England’s balanced performances with bat and ball suggest they are building strong momentum ahead of the knockout stage.
