India have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with Jasprit Bumrah returning to the side and Virat Kohli included subject to fitness clearance.
Bumrah, India’s premier fast bowler, was rested for the recent one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan as part of a workload management strategy. His return significantly strengthens the pace attack as India continue building towards the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
Kohli has also been named in the squad after missing the Afghanistan ODI series due to a hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final. However, the veteran batter’s participation remains dependent on medical clearance. As a result of Kohli’s return, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had replaced him in the Afghanistan series, has not been selected for the England tour.
The squad also features the return of Harshit Rana, who impressed earlier this year against New Zealand before suffering a right knee lateral meniscus injury that required surgery. The setback ruled him out of both the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026, but his successful recovery has earned him a place in the ODI squad.
Axar Patel replaces Harsh Dubey in the squad and rejoins the ODI setup after a lengthy absence. Washington Sundar continues to be preferred as India’s primary spin-bowling all-rounder, while Ravindra Jadeja remains out of contention.
There is still no return for Hardik Pandya, who continues his rehabilitation following injury concerns linked to recurring back and leg issues. Young pacer Gurnoor Brar has retained his place after an impressive debut series against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the BCCI confirmed that Varun Chakaravarthy remains in the final stages of recovery from a foot injury and will miss the T20I series against Ireland.
India’s England tour begins with a five-match T20I series on July 1, followed by ODIs in Birmingham, Cardiff and London from July 14 to July 19. Before that, India will face Ireland in two T20Is on June 26 and 28.
