    Cyberattacks Target CBSE Results Portal

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported a series of coordinated cyberattacks on its post-result services portal, prompting the Delhi Police to register an FIR and launch an investigation. The attacks occurred just days before the closure of the verification and revaluation window for Class XII students, a crucial period for lakhs of candidates seeking post-examination services.

According to CBSE, the portal, launched on June 2, 2026, to facilitate answer sheet verification, photocopy requests, and revaluation applications, came under repeated cyberattacks over a three-day period. The attacks reportedly involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses located both within India and abroad. Authorities believe the attackers aimed to disrupt portal operations, block access for legitimate users, and potentially attempt unauthorized extraction of information.

Despite the scale of the attacks, CBSE stated that its systems remained secure and operational. The board confirmed that no data breach or unauthorized access was detected. Continuous 24×7 monitoring and rapid response measures helped mitigate the attacks. Cybersecurity support was provided by institutions and agencies including IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, the Digital India Corporation, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), and CERT-In.

The board emphasized that any disruption to the portal could have affected nearly four lakh students who are currently accessing answer copies and applying for verification or revaluation. Given the potential impact on students nationwide, CBSE lodged a formal complaint with the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police.

Meanwhile, the issue has sparked political debate. The Congress party questioned the procurement process related to CBSE’s Online Service Management (OSM) system and demanded accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The party cited reports alleging a significant increase in the project’s contract value and called for an independent investigation into the matter.

The Delhi Police investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the cyberattacks.
