The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from 16th to 31st July 2025, at its Head Office and across the country through its attached/subordinate offices and autonomous bodies. This annual cleanliness initiative, held as per the directives of the Cabinet Secretariat and coordinated under the aegis of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, reflects the Government’s commitment to realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic India.
The campaign began with a pledge-taking ceremony on 16th July 2025, led by Shri Rajit Punhani, Secretary, MSDE, in the presence of senior officers of the Ministry and attached offices. Similar pledge ceremonies were held in regional offices across the country under the leadership of respective heads.
Throughout the fortnight, intensive cleanliness drives were undertaken in the premises of Kaushal Bhawan, focusing on workspaces, washrooms, and common areas to enhance hygiene and workplace efficiency. All staff members from MSDE and its various offices actively participated in the initiative.
Adding a sustainable dimension to the campaign, Secretary MSDE and senior officials participated in a plantation drive within the Ministry premises. To foster creativity and engagement on the theme of Swachhata, the Ministry organized painting and slogan writing competitions, which saw enthusiastic participation from the staff, contributing to the overall success of the campaign.
In a bid to expand the impact beyond office premises, an awareness campaign was conducted targeting auto-rickshaw drivers and food stall vendors in the surrounding areas, promoting the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces. Additionally, a special awareness drive on curbing the use of single-use plastics was held at Kaushal Bhawan, engaging officials of the Ministry.
The Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 concluded on 31st July 2025 with a vibrant closing ceremony, during which prizes were awarded to winners of various competitions. Safai Mitras were also felicitated with appreciation kits, in recognition of their dedicated service and invaluable contribution to the success of the campaign.
