The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved a 1% concession in stamp duty on property purchases worth up to ₹1 crore, provided the property is registered in the name of a woman.
The decision, aimed at encouraging women’s ownership and financial empowerment, was taken during a Cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, where 37 proposals were passed in total.
Previously, this exemption was limited to property valued up to ₹10 lakh, with a maximum benefit of ₹10,000. The revised policy significantly expands the benefit, making it applicable to a wider range of property transactions and enhancing women’s participation in asset ownership across the state.
