On the eve of the one year anniversary of the Modi 3.0 government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has redefined women-led development with various initiatives aimed at empowering the country’s “Nari Shakti”.
“Over the last 11 years, the NDA Government has redefined women-led development,” he said in a post on X. “Various initiatives, from ensuring dignity through Swachh Bharat to financial inclusion via Jan Dhan accounts, the focus has been on empowering our Nari Shakti.”
The Prime Minister pointed out key schemes launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao which has ignited a “national movement to protect the girl child”.
“Ujjwala Yojana brought smoke-free kitchens to several homes. MUDRA loans enabled lakhs of women entrepreneurs to pursue dreams on their own terms,” he said on X. “Houses under the women’s name in PM Awas Yojana too have made a remarkable impact.”
Union home minister Amit Shah, in a post on X, highlighted that empowered women are the foundation of Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India.
“For the Modi government, nothing is more important than mother and motherland. In #11YearsOfSashaktNari, the Modi government has given a new boost to the spirits of women by making them self-reliant,” he said in Hindi on X. “From ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ to toilets, Ujjwala, ban on triple talaq, their dignity and ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ and recruitment in armed forces are ensuring their historic participation in nation-building.”
BJP national president and Union health minister JP Nadda said women’s aspirations have been placed at the “heart of policymaking and governance” in the Modi-led governments over the last 11 years.
“A nation’s development is truly possible only when its women are empowered. From healthcare to defence, and education to innovation, women have consistently stood as pillars in India’s development story,” he said on X.
Nadda said that the government’s various initiatives have opened countless opportunities for women across the country. “Initiatives such as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Drone Didi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (focusing on toilet construction), Mahila Shakti Kendras, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao have empowered our sisters and opened countless new opportunities,” he noted.
In the run up to the one-year anniversary of the Modi-led government’s third term, BJP leaders, including Modi, also talked about the initiatives launched to boost the prosperity of farmers.
“It’s our privilege to serve our hardworking farmers. For the past 11 years, our various initiatives have boosted prosperity for farmers and also ensured an overall transformation of the agriculture sector,” Modi said in a post on X on Saturday. “We have focussed on issues like soil health and irrigation, which have been greatly beneficial. Our efforts towards farmer welfare will continue with greater vigour in the times to come.”
