    From West Bengal to Uttar Pradesh, by-elections to 7 assembly seats in 6 states today

    Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, by-elections are being held in seven assembly constituencies across six states. These seats include Dhupguri in West Bengal, Dhanpur and Boxnagar in Tripura, Pudupalli in Kerala, Dumri in Jharkhand, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand and Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh. These bypolls are being held due to various reasons, including the change of party of leaders.

    People have been gathering at polling booths since morning to cast their votes for the by-elections being held in 7 assembly seats of 6 states. The campaigning ended on Sunday. At the same time, the results of the elections for all these seats will be announced on September 8, 2023.

    Voting begins

    Voting has begun in many seats for the assembly by-elections being held in 7 seats. In Jharkhand, polling is underway for dumri assembly by-election. For which people are reaching their respective polling booths.

    Competition between them

    In Ghosi seat, there is a fight between SP candidate Dara Singh and SP candidate Sudhakar Singh Chauhan. Congress is also supporting Sudhakar Singh. In West Bengal’s Dhupguri, the contest is between BJP’s Taapsee Roy and TMC’s Nirmal Chandra Roy. In Tripura, the BJP and the CPI(M) are locked in a bitter battle in Dhanpur and Baksnagar seats. The UDF and LDF are locked in a bitter battle in Kerala’s Pudupalli seat, which fell vacant following the death of Congress leader Oommen Chandy. In Bageshwar seat of Uttarakhand, there is a fight between BJP’s Parvati Das and Congress’s Basant Kumar. In Jharkhand’s Dumri, Baby Devi of the N.N.D.I.A. alliance and Yashoda Devi of the NDA are facing each other.
