Chinese President Xi Jinping will be replaced by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the G-20 Summit to be held in India. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning gave this information on Monday (4 September). The G-20 summit will be held in New Delhi on September 9-10. This will be the 18th G-20 Summit. Li Keqiang will lead the Chinese delegation in New Delhi.

“At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of India, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council will attend the 18th G20 Summit to be held in New Delhi, India on September 9 and 10,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao said in a statement.

Xi Jinping will not attend the ASEAN summit

President Xi will also not attend the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and East Asia summits in Jakarta this week. Premier Li will represent China at the ASEAN summit in Indonesia.

At the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the current ASEAN president, Premier Li of the State Council, will attend the 26th China-ASEAN Summit, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from September 5 to 8, and will pay an official visit to Indonesia, another Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin announced on September 1.

Now Prime Minister Lee is expected to visit India after attending the East Asia Summit in Jakarta. In 2021, Chinese President Xi did not attend the G20 summit held in Italy due to China’s Kovid-19 restrictions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the G-20 summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi his decision not to attend the summit in person as he has to focus on “special military operations” in Ukraine.

    Why Is G-20 Summit Important??

The G20 members represent about 85 per cent of global GDP, over 75 per cent of global trade and nearly two-thirds of the world population. The group comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia and Saudi Arabia., South Africa, Turkey, Britain, the US and the European Union (EU).
