Uttar Pradesh DGP Vijay Kumar has given a strange statement, in which the DGP has said that now the deployment of police personnel in UP will be according to the Hindu panchang. DGP Vijay Kumar has directed police officers to use the Hindu calendar or ‘panchang’ to ascertain the period during which crime is likely to increase and increase their vigilance accordingly. He has explained the whole mathematics behind what he has said this through video.

    DGP explains mathematics

The DGP said the new moon is scheduled to be held on August 16, September 14 and October 14 and the authorities should remain alert a week before and after it. A week before and a week after the amavasya date, crime mapping should be done as the incidence of crime increases during this time. He issued a circular for this and said that night patrolling should be done more effectively during this period. In the circular, the DGP also asked the officers to identify criminal hotspots and map any incident of crime.

‘Panchang’ will be used to curb crime

In a circular issued by the UP Police on August 14, DGP Vijay Kumar said an analysis of the records has shown that incidents of crime increase on the night before and a week after ‘Amavasya’. He said that on analysing the incidents that took place in all the districts of the state at the headquarters level, it was found that more incidents take place on the night before and a week after the amavasya date of the Hindu calendar. The circular said the analysis should be done at the level of senior police officers every month and one should remain alert.
