PM Modi has advised the public to be prepared for the next health emergency, take precautions from it and prepare to respond to it. Pm Modi said this while addressing the G-20 Health Ministers meeting in Gandhinagar via video on Friday. The G20 health ministers are meeting in Gandhinagar from August 17 to 19. Here the PM said that the world is connected to each other. During the Corona epidemic, we have seen that the problem in any other corner of the world can affect the other part of the world in a very short time.

    Talk about overall health

Explaining the importance of holistic health here, PM Modi said that International Yoga Day is the best example of this. The establishment of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar in Gujarat is a very important step in this direction. Pm Modi said that organizing who’s global summit on traditional medicine along with the G20 health ministers’ meeting is going to be of great benefit. He also said that clean air, safe drinking water, adequate nutrition and safe shelter are the major drivers of health.

    Threat from anti-microbial resistance

Pm Modi in his address said that anti-microbial resistance is a serious threat to public health and all pharmaceutical advances so far. The Prime Minister expressed happiness that the G20 Health Working Group has given priority to ‘One Health’. He said the ‘One Earth, One Health’ approach conveys the message of Gandhiji’s vision of leaving no one behind.

    Emphasis on digital solutions

Pm Modi stressed on digital solutions and technological innovation to make the work being done on health more inclusive. He said that nowadays people from far-flung areas can get quality care through tele-medicine. India’s national platform eSanjeevani has so far provided telehealth facilities to 140 million people. The country’s CoWIN portal has so far vaccinated 2.4 billion people. This is the world’s largest number. Such steps towards digital health can serve as a big step towards universal health coverage, he said.
