    Allahabad High Court dismisses plea seeking sealing of Gyanvapi mosque premises

    The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Uttar Pradesh government to seal the entire Gyanvapi mosque complex without affecting the archaeological survey of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). , A bench of Chief Justice Preetinkar Diwakar and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava passed the order after the petitioners requested the court to withdraw the PIL and approach the appropriate legal forum.

    Petition to protect symbols

    Last Wednesday, a PIL was filed in the Allahabad High Court seeking a direction to the state government and the district administration to seal the entire Gyanvapi mosque complex, so that Hindu symbols and symbols are not damaged by non-Hindus.

    The petition had also sought, a direction to the state government and the district administration to prevent non-Hindus from visiting the old temple area till the cases pending in the court of the District Judge, Varanasi, are disposed of.

    Attack on Aurangzeb’s instructions in 1669

    The petition was filed by Jitendra Singh Visen, Rakhi Singh and others. The petition said the temple was damaged by various Muslim invaders several times in the past and was attacked in 1669 on the instructions of Muslim ruler Aurangzeb. The present petition is being filed to save the remains of the centuries-old Sri Adi Vishweshwara temple and the Shivalinga, the petition said.
