For the first time the state government will introduce pollution free CNG buses in the city from March next year and for the purpose the state transport department is developing a refilling station at Kasba bus depot. Along with this the transport department will also introduce 70 new electric buses in city by March 2020 which will take the total number of electric buses to 150.
“The state transport department will introduce 10 CNG buses in the city from March next year. As there is no refilling infrastructure in the city we are developing a refilling station at Kasba depot. We have signed an agreement with GAIL who will carry CNG gas in tankers and do the refilling. In future we have plans to introduce more pollution free buses in the city,” state transport minister Subhendu Adhikari said in the assembly during a discussion on the standing committee report on transport on Friday.
