Exclusive interview of founder of Molyar Interior Design Studio
Molyar Partner LLP is a New Delhi Based Interior Design Studio. Molyar is a pahadi word, which translates into the magic that spring weaves into nature and makes everything new and beautiful. The studio works on residential, office, and commercial spaces, with full dedication, and fresh unique design concepts. We spoke with Peridhi Bhandari, the founder and Lead Interior Designer of Molyar.
Peridhi Bhandari believes that life is all but a constant quest of expression and nothing says more about us than the spaces we occupy. Her quest is of enabling people to express themselves through their spaces lead her to leave the corporate job at McKinsey and Company to pursue Interior Design and consecutively this passion drove her to Sushant School of Design and this eclectic background translates her to understand her clients better and help her “Live Your Style”.
What determined your passion for design? Tell us the moment when you decided to go this way?
I was always a creative as a child, however it was after I joined Mckinsey and Company I realised my true passion lies in Interior Design. Whenever I would go anywhere, I would subconsciously redesign the space in my head, on realising this I decided to pursue my higher education in Interior Design.
What inspires your design?
I believe in creating spaces for the people, so I try to read my client and their personality, thereby using that as a reference to create a space for them. I believe in picking up small nuances in their life and curating it into a design which is specific to them.
When you remember your first project, you feel?
My first Project ever was a hotel bedroom and bathroom in Goa, till date it remains the closest to my heart. I had pulled in the Portuguese influences in Goan design language. It brings back a lot of memories of wanting to create something unique but highly utilitarian.
The first thing that catches your eye when you enter a room (empty or not)?
I feel the original architecture of the room plays a strong role in the design language, so the windows and room heights are probably the first thing that my eyes pick up subconsciously. Big curtain windows and tall ceilings are my personal favourite.
One moment, one person, one project that marked your career?
I think it was this one residential project that I completed in GK, the client on seeing the final product said, she feels like she is living in a magazine, and it was her childhood dream to have a house put together like that. That moment stays with me even today, and I believe I work for magical moments like these.
