Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY) or Ayushman Bharat has put purchasing power in the hands of 55 crore poor people thereby unleashing a demand for secondary and tertiary healthcare in the country, says National Health Authority CEO Indu Bhushan. As the health insurance scheme for the poorest of the poor completes a year this month, Bhushan speaks about the challenges ahead and how the flagship mission would push private sector to create 1.5 lakh additional beds.Efforts will be focussed on bringing in the remaining states to the PM-JAY family. Covering poor and vulnerable families, who are still not covered and ensuring that the entitled beneficiaries are issued their e-cards as soon as possible are our priorities.
