Narayan Sai, Son Of Asaram, Gets Life Sentence In Rape Case

Narayan Sai, son of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, was sentenced to life imprisonment in a rape case by a Surat court on Tuesday. Narayan Sai, 47, and his father are currently lodged in jail is connection with separate cases of sexual assault. The court had last week convicted Narayan Sai under IPC sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 323 (assault), 506-2 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (conspiracy).

Two Surat sisters had filed a rape case against Narayan Sai in 2013. One of the sisters had alleged that she was sexually abused by Narayan Sai multiple times when she was staying at his ashram between 2002 to 2005. He was arrested from Kurukshetra in Haryana in December 2013. A 1,100-page charge sheet was filed against Narayan Sai by the Surat Police in 2014.
