    IOCL Ramping Up LPG Facility In Northeast India

    Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is investing Rs 600 to Rs 700 Crore in augmenting the LPG production facility and ramping up storage facility across the Northeast India.

    There is spurt in the LPG demand following the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUJ). Uttiya Bhattacharyya, Chief General Manager (CGM), Indian oil Assam oil division (AOD) said, “It should be our endeavor that every kitchen in the country is smoke-free and health with easy access to LPG. With our sustained efforts, LPG coverage in the North East has improved to 80 percent from 48 percent in comparison to May 2017. During the period of 19 month we have released of 29 lakh LPG connections.”

    He added that LPG business in the North East started in the year 1971. Since then till May 1, 2017 total of 48 lakh LPG connections could be release. Due to PMUY launched by Prime Minister of India of May 1,2016 at Balia, Uttar Pradesh and subsequently launched in the Northeast India on May 13, 2017 at Assam, the PSU Oil companies have release 33 lakh connections in the North Eastern states.
