The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Parbati-Stage-II project authorities are all geared up to make it operational in mid-September. The 800-MW Parbati Stage-II project is part of the 2,013 MW Parbati project, Asia’s biggest hydro-power project, on the Parbati river here being executed by the NHPC.Talking to The Tribune Imran Saed, General Manager, project body, said “Testing for power generation at Parbati Stage-II has started and everything is going fine. If everything goes as per schedule, we will be able to start commissioning of power from this project in mid-September though the efforts are underway to make it operational as soon as possible,” he said.
The Parbati river is proposed to be diverted with a Concrete Gravity Dam at Pulga village in Parbati valley through 31.52 km-long Head Race Tunnel. He said that the project authority has started water storage through 31.52-km-long Head Race Tunnel to test the leakage of water and other technical aspects. As of now everything is going smooth.
