Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has hailed the decision of the Centre to increase the threshold limit for GST registration of dealers from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh per annum as it will provide much-needed relief to businessmen in the state.Thakur said the state government had urged the Union Government to enhance the limit for the businessmen keeping in view its difficult topographical conditions along with some other hilly states like Assam and Uttarakhand. Most of the special-category states would come under the Rs 20 lakh threshold limit for registration of dealers, benefiting businessmen.He said about 75 per cent to 80 per cent businessmen fell in small category and they would be immensely benefited. Over 92,000 dealers had been registered under the GST and of these, over 80 per cent would benefit as they would be required to file lesser number of returns per annum, he added.
