The students of SGRR private medical college on Tuesday called off their week-long sit-in launched against the arbitrary fee hike carried by the college authorities a few days ago.The students ended their sit-in after an agreement was struck with the college management. An agreement has been reached that the college authorities would maintain a status-quo on tuition fees for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 until such time the appellate committee and the high court give their decision on the matter.Significantly, during the recently concluded budget session at Gairsain, the Uttarakhand government had introduced an amendment to the Private/Aided Professional Institutions and Colleges (Entrance and Fee fixation) 2006 Act. The amendment was also passed by the house.
