Now, you can pick up 5 kg LPG cylinders at 20 Indian Oil Corporation petrol bunks in the city without paying any deposit. Customers just have to pay ₹1,354.50 per cylinder. When you need a refill, you can take the empty cylinder to any of these bunks and pick up a refill for ₹365 (rate for the month of March, 2018). The only thing required is the submission of a valid ID during the time of purchase.
Indian Oil Executive Director (Tamil Nadu and Puducherry), R. Sitharthan, who launched the sale of the free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders on Thursday, said they planned to expand the facility. “Important towns in all the 32 districts will have these 5 kg cylinders shortly. We are targeting various sections of people, including students, working couples and even those who go on tours. The last category can pick up the 5 kg cylinders in other cities in the country too,” he said. He added that even families already holding 14.2 kg cylinder connections are opting for these cylinders.
